⏱️ The Essentials in 3 Minutes |
🧠 Understanding the Value of the Displayed Duration
The estimated duration is not just an administrative detail. It directly influences learner engagement:
It affects when they choose to start: a learner who sees "45 min" will plan a different time slot than one who sees "10 min".
It reduces drop-off: an underestimated duration creates frustration when the path takes longer than expected.
It strengthens content credibility: a duration consistent with the actual path inspires confidence.
🔎 Viewing the Total Training Duration
The total duration is visible in two places:
Learner side: on the training thumbnail on the "Training courses" page (if the training is being distributed).
Author side: in the publication settings, under the "Experience customization" section, "General information" tab.
🛠️ Adjusting a Module's Duration
Open the relevant project and go to the module you want to edit.
Open the module's introduction page and click Edit introduction.
Check the Estimated module duration option.
Enter the desired duration.
Repeat for each module in the project.
💡 If the option is not checked, the default duration of 10 minutes is automatically applied for that module.
👀 Anticipating the Learner Experience
The total duration displayed on the thumbnail is the sum of the durations of all modules. The learner sees it before starting the path, it is often one of the first criteria they check when deciding whether to engage.
⚠️ If you modify a module's duration after distribution, the total duration displayed is updated immediately for all learners, including those currently in progress.
