🧠 Why visual consistency matters
The background of a module is often the first thing a learner sees. A background that matches your organisation's visual identity reinforces the credibility of your training and reduces visual friction. Conversely, mismatched backgrounds from one module to the next create an impression of disorganisation that can hurt engagement.
Didask lets you set a global background for the entire project in a single step, while still giving you the flexibility to customise individual modules when needed.
🔢 Background priority order
When multiple background levels are configured, the platform applies the most specific one first:

🖼️ Setting a project banner
From your project, click the banner button (✏️ icon in the top left of the banner).
Import your image.
This banner serves as the default fallback on module pages when no module background is configured. It also appears permanently on certain screens in the learner journey, regardless of any module background setting (see table above).
Screens that always use the project banner (module backgrounds have no effect on these screens):

ℹ️ The project banner does not affect content blocks or exercises.
⚙️ Setting a background for all modules in the project
From your project, open the Graphic settings (icon in the top right).
Go to Module page customisation.
Import your Background image.
This setting applies as a full-page background across all modules in the project:
Module introduction page
Content pages (granules)
Key messages
Module conclusion page
End-of-module practice
ℹ️ Any module that sets its own specific background will override this global setting.
⚙️ Setting a specific background for one module
If a module needs a different background from the rest of the project:
Open the module.
Click "Edit introduction".
Import a Background image specific to this module.
This setting applies to all pages of this module only:
Module introduction page
Content pages (granules)
Key messages
Module conclusion page
End-of-module practice
ℹ️ This background takes priority over the global module background and the project banner, for this module only.
🖼️ Customising the background of a content block
Content blocks can have a background independent from the module background:
Hover over the block.
Click the style icon 🎨.
Choose the colour or image you want.
ℹ️ A block's background overrides the module background for that specific block only. Other blocks in the same module are not affected.
🎨 Customising the exercise background
The exercise background is set by the colour of the theme applied to the publication (colour only, no image):
Go to Personalisation > Publication theme management.
Click the pencil icon ✏️ next to the relevant theme.
Modify the exercise background colour.
🔆 Improving contrast on a background image
If text is hard to read on your background image, add a colour filter:
Access the background configuration you want to change: the ✏️ icon in the top left of the project banner, the project graphic settings, or the module introduction page.
On the image, click the settings button (next to the bin).
Go to the "Colour filter" section.
Select the colour you want.
Adjust the opacity to improve text readability.
