⏱️ The essentials |
🧠 Understand the learning benefit
The Manager role lets team leads track their team's training directly in Didask — without needing admin rights.
In practice, a manager gets a dedicated "Supervise" section in the sidebar. There, they can see the list of people they manage, their progress on each training, and take action: send a reminder to someone falling behind, or approve their enrollment requests.
Unlike an admin, a manager only sees their team: the people linked to them by an administrator, just like your org chart. They have no access to content creation, user management, or platform-wide analytics.
📌 Example: at an industrial company rolling out a mandatory safety training, managers receive a notification as soon as an enrollment request is submitted. They track progress week by week and follow up with overdue learners in one click, without involving the L&D team.
🔍 What a manager can and cannot do
What the manager can do | What they cannot do |
View their team's progress | Edit or create trainings |
Send reminders to team members by email | Manage user accounts |
Approve or reject enrollment requests | Access platform-wide analytics |
Export a tracking CSV | Access the Projects tab |
Manage a team of managers | Access the Publications tab |
⚠️ The Manager role alone does not grant access to the Trainings tab. To access it, the Manager role must be combined with the Learner role.
⚙️ Assign the role and build the team
Assign the Manager role:
Go to Administration > Users.
Open the relevant user's profile.
Under their roles, select Manager.
💡 You can assign the role in bulk from the users table.
Link team members to their manager:
Go to Administration > Users.
Open a team member's profile using the > View profile button.
Click "Assign a manager" and select the relevant manager.
Repeat for each team member, or use the bulk action.
On a manager's profile, the "Managed users" section lists the people linked to them. You can remove a link at any time.
💡 You can automate these assignments from your HRIS via the Didask public API (scopes managers:read and managers:write).
🔎 Navigate the Supervise section (manager)
Once set up, the manager accesses the "Supervise" tab in their sidebar, with up to three pages:
Team: the list of their team members with completed trainings, progress, and last activity. Clicking on a person opens a panel with details for each of their trainings: status (Not started, In progress, Completed), progress, and final exam score.
Team trainings: the same information viewed by training, how many are enrolled, in progress, or done. Clicking a training shows the list of learners involved, with search and status filters. The "Export as CSV" button is also here.
Training requests: the list of pending enrollment requests from the team. The manager can approve or reject them one by one, or select multiple at once. When approved, the learner immediately gains access to the training and receives an email. When rejected, they are notified and can submit a new request.
Send a reminder
From a team member's panel or the trainings table, the "Remind" button sends an email inviting the learner to resume the training. The bulk action follows up with all overdue learners on a given training in one click.
View the full reporting line
If the manager oversees other managers, the "Include indirectly managed users" toggle extends the view to the entire subtree.
👀 What learners experience
When a learner submits an enrollment request, their manager receives an email and in-app notification. The learner is notified of the decision as soon as it is made.
If an admin or a higher-level manager handles a request in place of the direct manager, the direct manager is automatically informed.
ℹ️ Assigning and removing a manager are both logged in the user account history. The platform automatically blocks circular assignments.
