🧠 Understanding the Pedagogical Value of Translation
Training in the learner's native language maximizes comprehension, memorization, and engagement. A carefully translated training course reduces the cognitive load associated with language and allows the learner to focus fully on the content.
💡 AI translation generates a fast, usable first version. It does not replace human review for content with a high semantic load (regulatory, medical, legal): always plan a revision phase.

⚠️ Automatic AI translation is only available if it is included in your Didask contract. To access it, contact us via the bubble in the bottom right of your Didask platform or at assistance.didask.com.
🛠️ Prerequisite: Add a Language to the Project
Regardless of the method chosen, start by adding the target language to the project:
Open the project to translate.
Go to ⚙️ Settings, Languages section.
Click Add a language and select the target language.
The 24 available languages:

💡 Automatic translation only applies to fields that have not yet been translated, in order to preserve manually made edits. To re-translate already-translated content, you will first need to delete the existing translation.
🤖 Option 1: Translate Automatically with AI
💡 If you have subscribed to AI use in your Didask contract, this feature will be automatically available in your instance via your project settings. If not, and you would like to access it, contact your CSM or write to us at [email protected].
The fastest method. The AI generates a complete first translation of the project in seconds.
How to do it:
From the Languages section of settings, select the language you added.
Click AI Translation.
Once the translation is generated, switch to the target language using the language selector at the top of the project.
Go through the modules and granules to review and adjust as needed.
Correcting or regenerating a translation:
To edit a passage: switch to the target language and directly edit the text in the interface.
To regenerate specific content: delete the translated text in the relevant granule, then click AI Translation from the language settings. Only the deleted content will be re-translated.
To start from scratch: delete the target language from settings, re-add it, then relaunch the full translation.
💡 For optimal translations: write clear, unambiguous source content, avoid idiomatic expressions, and check the consistency of important technical terms.
📄 Option 2: Import a XLIFF File
Ideal if you are working with a professional translator or a specialized translation tool. The XLIFF format (XML Localization Interchange File Format) is the industry standard for translation.
How to do it:
In ⚙️ Settings, Export section, click Export as .xlf. You get a file containing all the project's texts.
Send the file to your translator or use a platform such as Smartcat.
Once translated, go back to ⚙️ Settings, Languages section, and select the target language.
Click Import XLIFF and upload the translated XLIFF file.
Didask automatically integrates all translations.
⚠️ Importing a new XLIFF file completely overwrites existing translations for that language. Make sure the file is complete before importing it.
✏️ Manually Edit the Translation in the Interface
To translate or correct content directly in Didask.
How to do it:
At the top right of the project, click the language selector to switch to the target language.
You are now in translation mode: edit the text of modules, granules, titles, and descriptions directly in the interface.
To modify images or granule content in the translated language, click "Edit translation".
🔎 Accessing the Project in the Translated Language
Click the language selector at the top of the screen to open the dropdown and access translated versions of the project.
Note: The languages displayed must first be configured in ⚙️ Settings > Languages section.
💡 Good to know: Some options can only be configured from the project's main language. This applies in particular to:
Final exam settings and questions
The satisfaction survey
Module settings
General and visual settings
🚀 Adding Languages in a Publication
For languages to be accessible to learners, they must be activated in the publication settings, under Distribution settings > Published languages.
⚠️ Publishing in the main language is mandatory for translated versions to be accessible.
👀 What Does the Learner See?
The Didask interface is available in 14 languages (buttons, menus, navigation tips). This applies automatically based on the language preference set on the learner's profile.
Learners can select their preferred language directly from the learning path via the ⚙️ Options tool in the top right of their screen, then Choose language.
