We've refined our method for calculating the time learners spend on training content. An inactivity modal has been added to check for learner presence in case of prolonged inactivity.

๐Ÿ•’ Calculating the time learners spend

What this means for you:

  • Accurate learning time tracking: Time spent on each course and its sub-sections is now measured more rigorously, with an activity check every 10 seconds.

  • Inactivity notification: If no activity is detected for over 15 minutes, a popup appears, pausing time tracking until the learner confirms their presence.

  • Continuous improvement: Tracking is updated in real-time with each activity change (such as moving from one granule to another) to ensure optimal accuracy.

๐Ÿ–ฅ๏ธ Recognised Activity Indicators:

  • Keyboard input

  • Scrolling

  • Touch input on tablets

  • Mouse clicks

  • Focus (selection of an option using the Tab key)

โš  Special Case for In-Person Modules: Time spent on in-person modules is recorded but typically not included in the total training time calculation. However, if a learner completes an in-person module, the estimated duration set by the designer will be added to the total time.

๐Ÿ“Š Improved Individual Statistics and Analytics

Individual Statistics:

  • Statistics Migration: A migration has been performed to ensure individual statistics align with pre-existing data. Minor differences may occur, primarily due to rounding and the inclusion of in-person modules now being counted.

  • Correction of Inconsistencies: An inconsistency between time displayed in reports and the learner profile has been corrected for enhanced accuracy.

Analytics:

  • Enhanced Aggregate Durations: Duration displays on the statistics page have been adjusted.

    • By Granule: Displays the median duration.

    • By Module: Previously, the medians of each granule were summed. Now, the average time spent on a module is used.

    • For the Publication: Instead of showing a sum of medians, the average time each learner spends on the entire publication is displayed.
