🔒 How to Lock Pathways for Progressive Release Within a Program

Manage access to your training content by locking or unlocking pathways based on your needs.

💡 Why use pathway locking?

  • ⏳ To structure your e-learning into progressive learning sequences, delivered step by step to learners.

  • 🧠 To support learners in e-learning programs lasting over an hour, helping them structure their learning and absorb concepts gradually.

  • 🎓 For blended learning (alternating between in-person and online sessions), allowing pathways to be unlocked at the right moment.

Two options are available on the program editing page:

👉 Two available modes

🔒 Manual locking

This is the default mode for all programs. No pathways are locked initially, but you can lock a specific publication by using the lock icon in the list of publications.

Here are the quick actions available:

  • Lock all publications.

  • Unlock all publications.

  • Learner notifications: When unlocking, a notification can be sent:

    • Via the app only.

    • By email and via the app.

    • No notification.

🔄 Progressive unlocking

Progressive unlocking restricts access to subsequent pathways until the learner has completed the previous one. Subsequent pathways remain inaccessible until the earlier one is marked as complete.

Definition of “complete a pathway”:

  • For a pathway without an evaluation, the learner has completed all modules.

  • For a pathway with an evaluation, the learner has completed all modules and either passed the evaluation or used all their attempts.

🎓 Learner-side experience

  • 🚫 Specific display: Locked pathways are visually distinct, clearly indicating their inaccessibility (visible to both learners and designers in the programme editing view).

  • 📝 Required evaluation: If an evaluation is needed to complete a pathway, the label “Complete evaluation” appears on the corresponding card.

  • 🔄 Access outside the programme: A learner can still access a locked pathway within a programme if it is also published outside the programme.
